Fellow Pine Ridge members,
My name is Tom Russell and I’m asking for your support in reelecting me to our Board of Directors. I’ve had the honor of serving you as a director for the past two years and while we have had some major achievements to secure our Master Plan, which protects our home values and quality of life, the job isn’t over. I need your help to continue to defend our community.
My wife Grace and I purchased our home in Pine Ridge over five years ago, and became full time residents in October of 2020. Since retiring from a career as an engineer, project manager, business man and professional association staffer, I’ve turned my full attention to serving Pine Ridge members in several committee roles and most recently as a member of the board of directors. I served on the Roads, Architectural Design, Technical, and chaired the Elections Committee until announcing my candidacy two years ago. This varied exposure to the workings of the association gave me a firm grounding on what is important to Pine Ridge today and into the future.
Two years ago I promoted my vision for our unique community: ‘One Pine Ridge’ where we all share in the success of this beautiful place.
The last two years as a member of the board has been an experience that has been challenging, enlightening, and ultimately rewarding. Even coming into the role with director-level experience, there is definitely a learning curve to become truly effective. This role requires diplomacy, fairness, a business mindset, foresight, professionalism and expertise in esoteric and varied topics that affect our lifestyles, all while keeping an eye on the big picture. These are key attributes that I’ve developed over decades that I promise to continue to serve you as a director.
I’ll throw some quick statistics out there for you to consider:
-
We are currently about 75% built out
-
Collectively as a community, we’re approaching almost $1.8 BILLION in property values, which grows larger with every new home built
-
At the current rate of construction, it will take only 15 years to complete a full buildout of the community
-
We’ve demonstrated to the county commissioners and staff that Pine Ridge is a force to be taken seriously and have had more roads repaved in the last year than in the previous 20
The reason that we have an association and deed restrictions is to mutually protect our property values and the enjoyment of our financial and personal investments. That’s easy to say as a mission statement, but sometimes it takes bold action and resolve to live up to those words.
As a community and association, we are at a critical time in our history. Demographics are changing as younger families move in. Serious issues remain unsettled. But in my estimation we’ve never been better positioned to answer the challenges to our mutual benefit.
I ask you to consider who will be the best candidate for the coming year.
-
Who has a track record of taking our governing documents seriously?
-
Who has demonstrated acting legally and professionally?
-
Who will always exercise discretion, but especially when necessary to protect our position?
I have taken this role seriously and it has my full-time attention.
As a community, what affects one neighbor affects us all. Don’t be mistaken that what you don’t see will not eventually affect all of us.
As a director, my focus will be to continue defending us against threats to the value and peaceful enjoyment of our homes.
I will actively work to strengthen our visibility within the County’s political leadership so that we are not constantly the recipient of adverse actions. We collectively have a strong political voice and we need to exercise it.
As such, we need a long term strategic plan for our community. We need to start making things happen instead of watching them happen.
Thanks for taking your time to hear my message and vision for ‘One Pine Ridge’, and I will gratefully appreciate your vote.
Best regards,
Thomas Russell

Pine Ridge Goals
As an experienced leader of not-for-profit enterprises in both employed and volunteer capacities, I’ve developed a service-oriented and consensus-building approach to maintaining operations that “work” and developing solutions for those that do not. As an adjunct to my previous employment, I represented my companies and industries to other organizations and regulatory bodies as a leader and contributor and was appointed by the United States government as a technical expert and delegate to an international standards body.
I wish to take this leadership experience and continue to work with the Board and community management to defend Pine Ridge from internal and external challenges to our quality of life and home values, and to make sure property owners’ interests are well represented to the local and state governments.
I will strive to resolve internal issues in a proactive, fair and reasonable manner, and always represent the best interests of the community.
